Clinical psychology

Clinical psychology is a branch of psychology that studies the psychological factors involved in health or illness, both in children and adults, and focuses on the one hand, on promoting health through the prevention of pathology, and on the other hand, on the psychological therapy of disorders involving mechanisms at the mental and/or affective level.

Clinical psychology allows for the complex evaluation of personality (character traits, temperament, aptitudes, etc.) and adaptation mechanisms (coping), both of healthy people and of people suffering from certain mental disorders or conditions.

The clinical psychologist thus performs a psychological psycho-diagnosis and a clinical psychological assessment, as well as general (primary) and specific psychological intervention (acquired after advanced professional training programs, the latter being divided into psychological counseling and psychotherapy).

Psychological psychodiagnosis and Clinical psychological assessment They aim to identify the way the clients' psyche functions and possible difficulties or even deviations from normality, as well as to investigate their behaviors and psychic functions, with the aim of guiding them towards a certain type of specific psychological intervention: psychological counseling, psychotherapy, drug therapy, etc. and supporting clients in overcoming the identified difficulties.

Specific activities of Psychological psycho-diagnosis and Clinical psychological assessment refers to:

  • cognitive assessment;
  • assessment of personality structure and adaptation/coping/defensive mechanisms (how to deal with problematic situations);
  • behavioral assessment;
  • psychological evaluation for disability classification of the adult.

The results obtained by the client are confidential and can be materialized in the form of Psychological Opinions attesting to the state of mental health, aptitude and/or, as the case may be, in the form of a Psycho-diagnostic Report and Clinical Psychological Evaluation, respectively Psychological Profile.

Psychological assessments are performed by appointment only., both at the office and at the client's home (in situations where he is immobilized and cannot move).
